die Blechfabrik - International wholesaler for mechanical tin toys
The owner Hans-Heinrich Mückenheim on the history of Blechfabrik:
"At the age of 12, I was already helping my brother-in-law Hans-Peter Feldmann to run our self-built stall with tin toys at the first Düsseldorf Christmas market. Colourful tin as far as the eye could see. Even back then, we had the only sales hut with tin toys at the market. Ten years later, I took over the market on my own. Together with a friend, we ran up to eight Christmas markets in the region. The first direct imports from China and India followed. Well-known manufacturers such as Schuco, Lorenz Bolz, Tucher + Walther, Wagner and Lehmann were still producing in and around Nuremberg at the time.
Then in 1991, again with my brother-in-law, DBS-Blechspielwaren GmbH was founded with the help of punching tools from Ernst Paul Lehmann bought at auction. Virtually overnight, we became producers. Since then, the spirit of Lehmann, who had a very nice motto, has hovered over us:
'Give your tin toy a name and it gets a soul.'
After a few years, my brother-in-law devoted himself 100% to his artistic work and the production, a wholesale business that had developed in the meantime, and the import and export of tin toys had to be brought under one roof. This is how today's Blechfabrik e.K. was founded in 2004.
Production facilities near Nuremberg, New Delhi and Shanghai now manufacture the popular tin toys under the brand name DBS-Blechspielwaren. At the same time, we carry all tin toys manufactured worldwide in our programme. Our mission is to preserve this historical treasure and continue to reproduce new (old) models. Let yourself be enchanted by the nostalgic tin toys."
